Orpheus Personality Inventory
Intro
Orpheus is a general purpose occupational personality test, suitable for use in a wide range of applications, from selection and recruitment through to promotion and development, providing information in terms of a candidates strengths and weaknesses, as well as preferences and style.
Orpheus is a work-based measure of personality, developed in the Cambridge University by Professor John Rust. It is based on the well-established ‘Big Five’ model, currently recognized as the most stable and well-defined structure of personality.
Specifically, Orpheus provides measures along the following dimensions:
- Fellowship
- Authority
- Conformity
- Emotion
- Detail.
In addition to the ‘Big Five’ scales, Orpheus provides an assessment of individual strengths and preferences along the following dimensions:
- Proficiency
- Work-orientation
- Patience
- Fair-mindedness
- Disclosure
- Loyalty
- Initiative
Orpheus also identifies irregular response patterns and response biases, such as ‘answering in a socially desirable way’ or ‘faking good’, dishonesty, acquiescence (giving agreeable answers to please the assessor), contradiction (providing contradictory answers) .
